hey hey,
sunds like ye had a blast at Roskilde, wish I was there, but then there's always next year...

I'm up in North East Cambodia planning on getting south to cross into Vietnam. Met up with 3 people with the same idea as me... to walk from Ban Lung to Sen Monorom... its over 100km down dirt tracks leading through dense jungle... we have 4 hammocks, 4 mosquito nets and a positive frame of mind so should make it in 4 days. Have a Khmer friend to escort (and protect!) us, our bags go ahead by pickup, on an actual road, not a dirt track! There are some ethnic minorities along the way in various settlements so we can eat with them and possibly sleep there too, in my hammock of course! Just need to get me some snake repellent. maybe I'll wear wellies for the trek...

Wedding photos look great. I like the overlapping of photos, or whatever fancy terminology befits the process. The jumping sunbeam, is it Ken? looks great anyway. Thanks for the call too, that was fun :)

If I get lost in the jungle you're the only one I've told about it back home... my future may be lying in your hands Dave!!

Shot of a window in an old Store House in Limerick City Centre. I love these old industrial building you get a lot of them in port and canal towns in Ireland.

In December I saw one being knock down in New Ross Co Wexford, it was a pity but the building was a risk to the public.

I took this photo on the way back from my brother wedding last September. It's not really a barn, it's actually a boat house. Situated is somewhere in Co. Mayo.

It looks a lot better in B&W than it did in colour, the texture of the wood and stone really comes out in the B&W.

Another calm shot, it's how I like to photograph nature, I hope my visitors like it :)

I just bought some studio lights this evening (on eBay, actually the first item I've ever purchased from eBay), they are being shipped from China!! Expect to see more studio work in the future, I'm looking forward to doing some portraits, maybe even a self portrait.

I'm going to be working with a model in the near future, she contacted me looking to build up her portfolio, I have some ideas I think are original and I'm looking forward to the opportunity.

Shot taken at a music festival in Barcelona last year, we really enjoyed the festival but it was a bit different than we were use to, for a start there was no camping, the up side to that was the apartment we rented, and the cheap cold Cava we had for breakfast every morning.

The first day we arrived wasn't very good cause the queue to get in was crazy, it took us about an hour and a half, after that we needed a drink unfortunately we had to queue for tokens to get a drink and that took another hour and a half, we traveled from Ireland - Spain in less time than that.

Highlights of the festival were Modest Mouse and Battles

Thanks Will, the light was amazing that day, it's been pretty much raining since then, although we did have some snow for a few hours last week until the rain came along and washed it away.

Not that I'm complaining really, I take it as it comes, as Billy Connelly says

<i>"there is no such thing as bad weather - only the wrong clothes."</i>

This morning it was pissing rain and I cycled to work in full wet gear and it was fun :)

I escaped from the Christmas shopping in Sligo and I went for a walk in the Doorly Park, it's an area I would have spent a lot of time as a child, my Grandparents lived very near the river. It's also one of the first locations that I photographed while in my first year of college.....

It was a beautiful still winters day, very cold but there was no rain and hardly any wind. As you might notice, if you look around the site, I like the calm, solemn, peaceful and simple looking landscape.

Another sunken boat, there were lots of them on the river that day. One of the first photos I ever had framed was of a sunken row boat on the Garavouge. I took that photo while in my first year of college in 1991.

I look lots of shots of the Ducks passing across the river, I think this one had the best composition and I like the way the water in the boat remains still and the ripples of the river press against the side of the boat.

Yeah it's a lovely bit of Art Deco. There are a couple of buildings from the time in Limerick but this one really captures the spirit.

I passed the building the other day and the Stella sign is gone so it's now a bit of history :)

I took this photo in May, it's of a window in <a href="http://www.killarney.ie/cathedral.htm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Killarney Cathedral</a> Co. Kerry. It was founded in 1842 & Consecrated in 1855.

It is a lovely building and looked great in the photos from the wedding. Unfortunately it was raining when we ceremony finished, and for the rest of the night, so I didn't get a group shot outside.

While traveling back from my brothers wedding in Co Mayo we stopped in Headford to have a look at this castle as a possible venue for our wedding. I liked it, but Clare had here doubts. We didn't see inside, the grounds were quite small and it had a lovely lake beside it.

The decision on the venue for the wedding was made for us a couple of weeks later when friends of our offered their restaurant in Co Rosscommon. We didn't have to think about it cause Ger is a great Chef and we know they will really look after us. They have 10 (and by then maybe 16 rooms) above the restaurant so all our accommodation is looked after, we really landed on our feet there.

Last Saturday I went for a nice cycle the weather was great and I just set out with no particular destination. I came across this tunnel under a dual carriageway, I just liked the curve and the texture of the concrete against the blue sky.

My new bike is great, my house insurance covered the cost of the other one getting stolen so I paid E100 and got a bike worth about 200 more than my last one, it was no scam the insurance company gets a discount for a supplier. The new bike has disc brakes pretty cool.

Limerick lacks good destinations for cycling around the city but there is a nice wood a few miles from the city so if the weather is good this week i'll head out there.

Halloween party next weekend so expect some crazy costume soon.

Dave, I really love this picture, I am studying grasses at uni and would like to use this picture in a presentation. Would you let me use it and if so do you have a high res version? I will post a link to your site on the poster.

I listened to that Collection of Animals album a couple of weeks ago, not my cup of tea. But I did have a dream about Prince last night and you were in it. He didn't look like prince and wasn't all dressed up in high heels and such-like but you could tell it was him. It was a low key gig and he was fairly sound when we were chattin to him, good time had by all.

I'm not a religious person but I do like Catholic Icon paintings. I can't recall many from my Catholic upbringing in Ireland, I think we went more in for the carved stations of the cross, stained glass windows, statues, and all the 'junk' you'd pick up in Knock, Co. Mayo.

If your not Irish or Catholic then you should check out this Wiki page on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knock,_County_Mayo" rel="nofollow">Knock</a>

I'd often have to travel through Knock on my way from Galway - Sligo, at this point I'd like to paraphrase King Arthur from the Holy Grail

<i>"On second thought, let's not go to Knock. It is a silly place."</i>

I got up early on Sunday morning, while in Venice, to avoid all the other tourists. It was lovely walking around the city with only a few people and the street sweepers around.

It was a lovely morning, bright & clear. I would have loved it to be foggy, but you can't have everything.

I am loving the Animal Collective album Strawberry Jam, I had it on while walking around Venice and every morning I wake up I have a different one of the songs going around me head. They are playing in Dublin on the 5th of November, I can't wait for the gig, I'm not going to miss it like I missed TV On The Radio & Clap Your Hands Say Yeah when they played Dublin.

Venice is a fascinating place with a rich and wonderful history. BBC 4 have a four part series on the city running every Thursday night, it's well worth turning the TV on for (or switching off what your already watching). It's just a pity that the series wasn't on BEFORE I went there.

I must admit, the photo is quite haunting.
Yet, in irony i love it that the white folks
are not hanging, but standing erect on
top the pole without a care in the world.
They can even touch one another.

in fact, It's not at all what my great-great
uncle would have been able to do. I bet the
Jewish teacher/activist/poet would be
honored that Australians can stand
erect and touch one another, while
mayhem and havoc wreck the inner
cities stemming from the evil roots
that this strange fruit planted in the
urban city.

Thanks for this picture. i will show it
to my kindergarten classes through
eighth grade and ask what they think
about it. What's the address where
they can send their letters?

We were in Venice for the 52nd la Biennale di Venezia last weekend and some of the best work in my opinion was that of the Chineese Artist Kan Xuan. She created some simple but very interesting video instalations that were shown in the petrol warehouse - Cisterne Building of the Arsenale, some of it might have been down to the location as you can see her videoes were placed between the large oil drums and the sound echoed around the space.

I'll post some more images for La Biennale in the coming days.

The 'scientist' (the security people) in the Nokia Tent at the Electric Picnic were much more accomidating than their counterparts in the Bodytonic tent. I didn't have pit access, since there was no pit area, but there was a area at the side of the tent were I could get close enough to get this shot and I was ushered in by one of the guys in white coats.

When I tried to go into the Bodytonic tent I was asked if I was press and I was honest and said no and was refused entry. I shouldn't have taken the camera out of the bag before I went in... It looked interesting in there but the music didn't sound very good.

Had a great time at the picnic anyway, I was mostly there for the music more so than the photos, the best acts I seen were in no particular order

Blonde Do Role
Patrick Wolf
Deerhoof
Bjork (what I seen of it)
Modest Mouse
LCD Soundsystem
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (but the sound was very poor)
Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip
Kieran Hebden & S Reid
The Fall

The band I wish I'd seen was the Beastie Boys I missed them on both nights because of other gigs..

This photo I took at the weekend kind of sums up the day I had yesterday, it went something like this......

The day started well, work was productive and I came up with some solutions to problems we've being trying to solve for 6 months or so.

I had my laptop at work because of the continuing problem with my broadband provider and I had it stored safely in my rucksack for the cycle home.

I took the same route home as I take every day but this time I'd end up getting a lift home for a couple of Garda (Police to the non Irish readers).

Shortly after I left the office I was cycling past the canal and I had to pass a few people with a couple of dogs drinking at the end of the walk, just before a little stone bridge I had to cross.

When I got close to them they started shouting at me, blocked my way, made threatening gestures and told me to "Get off my fucking bike", yes the accused me of stealing it from them.

There were three men, the biggest guy was about 28 years old, 1.8 meters, dark hair, bear chested, lots of tattoos and drunk. The other guy was younger & shorter than the first guy and much larger and wearing a tracksuit. The final guy I didn't get a good look at and they had two dogs a German Shephard and a smaller dog.

Since I had a valuable laptop in my bag, that I didn't want to draw attention to, I had to let them take the bike (which cost me 350 euro).

Long story short I rang the Gardaí gave them a description and got a lift home. I have to make a statement later this week, my house insurance will cover the loss but that is no cosolation to me cause I loved that bike.

So three years in Limerick and 2 bikes stolen, the same number I had stolen in Galway over a nine year peroid....

It been awhile since my last post it's down to 3 reasons

1. Too much time in the office
2. A damaged laptop screen
3. Loss of broadband at home

We have completed most of the projects at work and all the designers are happily using the new style and were getting very good feedback internally so I can consentrate on other things.

The screen on my laptop had big black mushrooms shapes growing from the bottom of the screen, (it was caused by water damage). It made working in Aperture or anything else almost impossible. It's been replaced now :)

The last problem is still on going, I have to contact my service provider and get it fixed....

Anyway I return with a self portrait, I was in Galway for the weekend for my brother stag party and while walking back to the apartments we rented (a bit drunk) I noticed this arrow and the zebra crossing and they looked good in the light from Dunnes Stores carpark. I have a few more shots of man holes and the painted lines that I will post in the coming few days.

This weekend I'm off to the Electric Picnic, hopefully I'll get some good shots. I just got the line up today and of course there are some conflicts in the times, looks like I have to decide between;

Deerhoof - The Beastie Boys (Set 1)

UNKLE - Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pimp - Rilo Kiley

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Beastie Boys (Set 2) - Sons & Daughters

Thanks for your comment Bernard. I post the Blood Gloucose results for three resons; for me it's an easily accesible visible record of my day to day levels (sometime it direcly relates to where I was when I took the photo), it also highlights that fact that Diabetics can lead a 'normal' life and finally as a graphic designer I like using the data.

It's coming up to the anniversary of my diagnosis soon so I'm going to post an image using all the data from my meter.

I went for a long cycle today. I took this photo at one of the many derelict petrol stations on the periphery of Limerick city.

I think the reason for so many derlict sites is the low profit margin on pertol and the increased in the value of the land in Irelands property boom.
